Between July and November, northern Loliondo is the hot spot as the migration moves up from the western corridor and crosses backwards and forwards over the Mara River. From Ololosokwan you have access to the whole Lobo area and the upper reaches of the Grumeti River as well as Bologonga to the North and Kogatende to the West on the Mara River. By late November northern Loliondo is probably one of the best places to be in the Serengeti as the wildebeest come pouring back south towards the southern and eastern plains.

Between December and June Piyaya in southern Loliondo is alive with game as the plains, which are dusty and largely devoid of life in the dry, turn green and are flooded with animals. The Piyaya community area has a unique combination of short grass plains, kopjes, acacia woodland, riverlines fringed with yellow fever acacias, dramatic hills & valleys and the Sanjan Gorge which runs into the Salei Plains.
