What are Tanzania's main safari Highlights?

Dar is somwhere you're likely to encounter at the beginning or end of your safari and usually it'll be for a single night.  However, despite being overall slightly uninspiring, there are actually one or two little gems emerging here these days.  Amongst the regular throng of international hotels (Holiday Inn and the like) which offer a good but slightly anodyne experience the Oyster Bay stands out head and shoulders above the rest as somewhere that will provide standards that you will have become used to on safari.

If you head a short distance down the coast to the south of Dar es Salaam (actually it's a couple of hours or a 15 minute flight), you eventually reach Ras Kutani, which is a stunning and little visited stretch of coastline with a superb little beach hotel that we'd highly recommend for anyone looking to relax for anything from a day to 5 days.
