Chobe camps - Chobe under Canvas
Chobe under Canvas
Chobe under Canvas (sister camp of Savuti under Canvas) are definately a more authentic way of seeing some of Botswana's more popular attractions without the crowds. The camp is semi mobile and moves every five or six days so the camp is necessarily simpler, although there are no compromises on comfort. In actual fact, the design of the camp means that you can still enjoy full-size double beds and great food while making the most of the aesthetic qualities of their bush locations.
The camp is small with only five big light open tents. They each have an ensuite loo and alfresco bucket showers with hot water throughout the day. So this is camping without the inconvenience and discomfort that may be off-putting to some.
Dining is a group affair in the mess tent or out under the stars and the whole atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The added bonus is that while many of the permanent lodges in Botswana can be quite pricey, Chobe under Canvas is a little gentler on the wallet and in our opinion, offers one of the better ways to experience Chobe.
