Laikipia camps - Ol Pejeta Bush Camp
Ol Pejeta Bush Camp
Owner-run by Alex and Diana Hunter, the conservancy in which the camp is found has the greatest game-to-area ratio of any of Kenya’s parks or reserves.
The conservancy, formerly and currently a ranch, is home to 4 of the world’s 8 remaining Northern White Rhino individuals, so a visit to the camp is a must for any wildlife fanatic. Hence, Ol Pejeta focuses much of its efforts on conservation, and guests are invited to learn about the ongoing projects on the 40,000 hectare ranch and, if willing, get involved.
You may even get a chance to see the new addition to the anti-poaching team – The Ariel Ranger, an unmanned aircraft employed to scan the conservancy, stepping up the much needed protection for the conservancy’s precious Rhinos.
Ol Pejeta has 6 twin bedded tents and 1 family tent sleeping four. All told the camp can accommodate up to 16 guests, and can be booked exclusively for a family or for groups of 4 or more. Alex and Diana also invite larger groups to stay and will put up extra temporary tents for you if necessary.
The style of the camp is traditional and simple. There are no permanent structures and the aim is to make the camp as low impact as possible. Tents are furnished with beds (duvets and blankets), re-chargeable solar lights, en-suite loos, washstands on the tent veranda and safari bucket showers.
The Belgian trained chef makes bread daily in the traditional charcoal oven and a wide variety of salads, meat and vegetarian food in camp and for bush breakfast and picnics. Activities on offer at Ol Pejeta include: Day and night game drives, guided bush walks, sundowners, Mount Kenya climbs, Lion tracking, bird watching and camel rides.
Incl. FB, activities, airstrip transfers, laundry, soft drinks, beer, house wine and selected spirits. Excl. Champagne, luxury spirits and wines.
