Bhutan itinerary including the Tiger’s Nest

Each of our journeys in Bhutan is tailor-made to suit your own interests, preferred style of accommodation, pace of travel and budget. Using a private car driver and guide, the following is a suggestion of how a trip to western Bhutan might look.

Fly from India, Nepal or Thailand to Paro and drive to Thimphu. Spend a full day with your national guide exploring the capital of Bhutan, its market, temples and museums.

Drive to Punakha, crossing the 3140m high Dochu La pass on the way. Explore the local area and visit the dzong which has one of the most beautiful settings in Bhutan, at the confluence of the Mo Chu and Pho Chu, the Mother and Father rivers.

Return west to Paro. Explore the courtyards and temples of the area’s dzongs, the watch tower with its collection of religious art, thangka paintings and handicrafts. Take a drive out into the picturesque and remote Haa Valley.

Hike to Taktsang, the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, high on a cliff side to the north of Paro.

Transfer the airport for your flight out of Bhutan and your onward international flight home.
