Ruaha National Park camps - Mdonya Old River
Mdonya Old River
Mdonya River Camp is surrounded by acacia forests and fig trees, situated close to the seasonal waterfall from which it takes its name, and away from the more popular Msembe area. Having been a bit of a wildlife desert, this area of Ruaha can now happily lay claim to decent game in the area generally and particularly in and around the camp itself where elephant are common visitors along the dried up river bed. Mdonya retains the same strong Italian influence from its owners and prides itself on providing a more raw, 'back to basics' bush camp feel.
The 12 walk in tents on concrete platforms are spacious and offer simple comfort, decorated with the odd feather and seed pod and lit with candles and kerosene lanterns at night. The ensuite bathrooms with flush loo, rain shower, and water pail are completley open to the air but for apprehensive guests can be covered on request.
Set meals are taken with other guests at a long shared table and with the increasing volume and confidence of game in this area you will be escorted to and from your tent at night by a friendly Masai watchman at night for safety.
Incl. FB, park fees, game drives. Excl. Beer, spirits & wines, soft drinks, laundry
