Bumthang camps - Mountain Lodge
Located about 1km north of Jakar town on the way to Kurjey temple and in a great location overlooking Wangicholing palace the Mountain Lodge is one of the most established in the Bumthang valley. It shows in the way it's managed by the hospitable owning family and their little team of quiet but friendly and obliging staff. The original wood paneled rooms have a tradtional traditional bukhari, a wood-burning stove, giving them a cosy and inviting atmosphere and each has an attached shower room. A new wing constructed in 2014 has large cavernous rooms and modern en-suite with bath. Meals are taken in the wood-panelled dining room decorated with checked table cloths, Buddhist flags and photos of the Bhutanese royal family.
Although simple the lodge is one of the best in the area and is a great place to stay as a base for exploring the sites of the surrounding valleys or trekking in the hills.
