Darjeeling accommodation - Elgin Darjeeling
For more than 125 years the Elgin has offered hospitality to visitors to Darjeeling, including guests of the Maharaja of Cooch Behar who hosted many parties here. There’s still a very Victorian ambience about the place with original features such as wide oak floor boards and wall panelling, and high tea in the lounge. Etchings and lithographs hang on the walls in public rooms furnished with Burma teak. The hotel has easy access to Darjeeling's famed Mall.
The 30 en-suite guest rooms are full of nostalgia and comfortable enough for a few nights, but if you’re here in the middle of winter you’ll notice the lack of central heating and the hot water bottles that are offered become an essential requirement at night.
