Kathmandu accommodation - Kantipur Temple House
Kantipur Temple House
Listening to the sound of the fountain in the plant filled courtyard at Kantipur Temple House it’s hard to believe that you are in Thamel in the heart of Kathmandu and just a street away from its melee of culture and life. The traditional four storied brick building features gorgeous wood carvings in both the public areas and guest rooms and there are panoramic views of the city and surrounding hills from the rooftop.
The hotel makes a number of efforts to protect the local environment and preserve the cultural heritage of the Kathmandu Valley so there are no televisions, air-conditioning or elevator. To fulfill their ‘plastic-free’ policy safe drinking water is readily offered in jugs instead of bottles. To ensure that guests are comfortable, fans are provided in summer and hot water bottles in winter. As well as western style seating, the cosy restaurant offers the option to dine in the local style, seated on a large cushion at a low table. A range of continental and Asian cuisine is served.
