Jaipur accommodation - Rambagh Palace
Rambagh Palace is among Jaipur’s most luxurious hotels but it is so much more than that. To stay here is to become part of its marvelous royal history as it has always belonged to the Maharaja of Jaipur.
Set in 47 acres of Moghul styled gardens the property dates from 1835 when a small pavilion was built for the chief lady in waiting to the Maharani. It was later refurbished as a royal guesthouse and then a hunting lodge before Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II converted it into a palace and made it his permanent home from 1925.
With the Rajmata Gayatri Devi, named the most beautiful woman in the world by Vogue magazine in 1940, running the household Rambagh became synonymous with elegant society as she entertained viceroys, lords and ladies, polo players, officers and artists. Rambagh remained the home of Jaipur’s Royalty until 1957 when the property was converted into a hotel. Today there are 79 luxurious rooms and suites decorated with rich fabrics and silks, period furniture and four poster beds.
There are four restaurants, the 'Polo Bar', indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The 'Suvarna Mahal' offers a truly royal dining experience with gold plated tableware, exquisite china and crystal, high ceilings hung with crystal chandeliers and original Florentine ceiling paintings and mirrors.
The palace butlers treat each guest like royalty and can arrange unforgettable palace experiences from a walk through the gardens with champagne served at the Polo Bar, to unique dining experiences in different parts of the palace, vintage car drives through the city or watching matches at the adjacent polo field.
