Udaipur accommodation - Jagat Niwas
Situated on Lake Pichola and within easy walking distance of the City Palace and Jagdish Temple, Jagat Niwas is approached on foot down a narrow lane and through an archway in the historic heart of Udaipur. The hotel was created from two 17th century havelis, built during the same period as the Badi Mahal in the City Palace, and sympathetically restored to retain the original features of Mewari architecture.
Each of the rooms is slightly different in shape and size reflecting the property’s origins as a grand town house built for a member of the royal family. They are simply furnished with period pieces and block-printed cotton fabrics, many with jarokhas, overhanging balconies, which provide a perfect window seat for gazing out over the lake. The rooftop restaurant serves a variety of cuisine with views of the City Palace behind, Lake Palace and Monsoon Palace on top of the hills beyond.
