Silently exploring the Okavango Delta by Mokoro

Okavango delta from the air

Walking with the bushmen at the Makgadikgadi Pans

Simple but comfortable Bots

From Chobe to Moremi & Okavango to Makgadikgadi Pans

We don't have a massive budget, want to see lots of animals, but we also don't mind a splash of rain. We're looking for experiences that are slightly off the beaten track, but still have a certain level of comfort. We don't mind staying in simpler places as long as they are clean and have a good spirit. ”

What we suggested - and why

If you're looking for a top quality safari, but don't have a huge budget, there are a number of ways you can look at getting price down while making sure that the elements that really matter (quality of game viewing and your guide, good comfortable accommodation) aren't compromised.

One of the best ways to do this is to think about travelling in the low season. While this usually means an increase in the chances of rain, it's important to realise that in Africa rain is generally a good thing. And more than that, some areas only come into their own once it has rained. The Makgadigadi Zebra migration is an example of this.

So we suggested Botswana because green season wildlife viewing is excellent, the country is green and lush, there are also few visitors compared to the peak season. And most importantly low season rates are great value.

We were able to include all the main areas of Botswana in this safari itinerary, as well as starting the holiday with three nights at a charming lodge by the Zambezi River near Livingstone and the Victoria Falls.

The areas they visited in Botswana were Chobe River, Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi Pans, so they saw the best of what Botswana has to offer
