Tanzania - expeditionary safari

Exploring Tanzania with a mixture of expeditionary and top-end camps

We have three weeks and we'd like to experience as much quality safari time as possible with a private vehicle and really good guide. We'd like to do some proper walking and if possible get out on a flycamp. Chimp trekking is the impetus for this trip”

What we recommended and why

We quickly understood that this couple wanted something out of the ordinary and put an enormous importance on the ability to get deep into wilderness areas in the company of an exceptional guide.

Expeditionary camping appealed hugely, so we obtained special permission from the Tanzanian Parks Authority to walk in a previously unexplored area in the Northern Tanzania with one of Tanzania’s top guides. The camp was carried by porters and moved with them each day.

From here they flew to the wild west of Tanzania, spending time at the exceptional Chada camp in Katavi. From here we organised two nights exploring the park with their of private lightyweight flycamp.

This was followed by four nights chimp trekking in Mahale National Park on the shores of Lake Tanganyika.

At the end of the trip they flew into Northern Serengeti for five nights in luxury mobile camp and some superb game viewing.
