Tanzania: Wildebeest Migration Safari

Stunning camps & the highlights of Northern Tanzania

We are two couples in our mid 50's. We'd like to see the migration, we'd prefer to avoid crowds and large group travel. We're interested in experiencing a variety of accommodations. Friends travelled through you and had a fabulous experience”

What we recommended – and why

We started with an indepth phone conversation to cover some of the numerous questions that abound when planning a safari and after browsing the internet.

The couples both liked the idea of tented camps with a high degree of comfort combined with small and stylish private lodges, accompanied throughout by an expert guide.

We suggested they looked at the July-October time frame in order to maximise chances of seeing migration river crossings and avoided some of the longer journeys by using the excellent domestic flight network.

Tarangire was an obvious choice for a short safari at this time of year, the park attracting a huge number of elephants due to having the main water source in this region, the Tarangire River.

From here we suggested they drove with their private guide to a lodge in the Ngorongoro Highlands from where they visited Manyara National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. The safari finished with northern Serengeti staying at a small, highly personalised and exceptionally comfortable tented camp.

The trip finished on the east coast of Zanzibar with time to relax and reflect before returning home.
