About the Walrus Safari to Borebukta

Departing in the golden Arctic evening, this boat safari takes you across Isfjorden to the secluded shores of Borebukta — a favourite haul-out site for Svalbard’s walrus population. Travelling in a small open boat, you’ll glide over calm waters with chances to see seabirds and dramatic coastal scenery on the way.

Once at the site, your guide will ease the boat in for a respectful viewing — close enough to watch these huge animals jostle, rest and occasionally flop into the water, but far enough to avoid disturbance. It’s peaceful, slightly surreal, and often accompanied by warm drinks served onboard.

There’s no rush. Just time, quiet, and the company of one of the Arctic’s most charismatic inhabitants

Why We Love the Walrus SafariWalrus Safari to Borebukta

Walrus are strangely beautiful in a way you don’t quite expect. Watching them from the water — lazy, social, and enormous — is a moment that lingers. And with the Arctic evening light stretching across the fjord, this trip captures the kind of calm that’s hard to find anywhere else.
