Kayaking gives you the kind of perspective that walking or boating never quite can. You’re in it — moving slowly and quietly through the landscape with time to notice everything. It’s not about distance or speed. It’s about being completely present.
A peaceful paddle through one of Svalbard’s most beautiful fjords — quiet water, Arctic light, and the rhythm of your own paddle.
This is one of the gentlest, most absorbing ways to explore Svalbard. With stable sea kayaks and an experienced local guide, you’ll set out from the shores of Longyearbyen and glide across Adventfjorden — a wide stretch of Arctic water framed by snow-dusted mountains.
The trip is about taking your time. You’ll pass beneath abandoned mining buildings and paddle past seabirds drifting above the surface. Conditions are often calm in the morning, and the fjord offers a peaceful setting to take in the scale of the place — eye-level with the water, and far from the noise of the modern world.
Full equipment is provided, including dry suits and boots. This is suitable for beginners, and ideal for anyone wanting to experience Svalbard from a new perspective.

Kayaking runs from late May to early September, when the fjord is ice-free and conditions are safest. Early mornings tend to offer the calmest water and clearest light.
“From the moment you speak to Natural High to when you get home the service and attention to detail is wonderful. Everything is so well planned and organised that you can just sit back and really enjoy your holiday. We couldn’t recommend husky sledding in the north of Sweden more. We all agreed it was one of the best family holidays ever.– The Fortescue family
You’ll be dressed in a dry suit with thermal layers underneath. You may feel a chill in the air, but the gear is designed to keep you warm and comfortable.
Typically 2.5 to 3 hours including gear-up, instruction and time on the water. Actual paddle time is around 1.5 to 2 hours.
