About Arctic Swimming

This is one for the brave. At Isfjord Radio, with the wide sea stretching to the horizon and not another soul for miles, you’ll have the chance to step directly into the Arctic Ocean. Cold? Yes. But also wildly invigorating, completely safe, and strangely euphoric.

There’s no ceremony, just a wooden jetty, a robe, and a group of equally curious swimmers. You’ll be fully supervised, and warmed up properly afterwards — often with hot drinks or the sauna back at the lodge. It’s not for everyone, but those who do it rarely forget it. A simple, bold moment in a place where the elements are fully in charge.

Why We Love Arctic SwimmingARCTIC SWIMMING

There’s no frill to this experience. It’s just you, the sea, and a sharp hit of cold. But it’s the kind of moment that grounds you — makes you feel alive in the best sense. That contrast of icy water and warm towel might just become your favourite memory.

BEST TIME TO GO Arctic Swimming

Ocean dips are possible throughout the summer and early autumn season (June to September) when access to the jetty is clear and conditions are stable. Water temperatures remain cold year-round — but the sun and sauna help take the edge off.
