Chitwan and Bardia camps - Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge

Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge

The accommodation at Karnali Lodge is fairly simple but what you will find here is some great staff who will arrange a personalised wildlife programme where you can decide what interests you and what you want to do. The lodge is owned and managed by Tiger Tops, pioneers in sustainable tourism in Nepal since the 1960’s and, the setters of high standards for naturalists which others all over the subcontinent have aspired to ever since.

12 rooms with attached shower room are in situtated in Tharu style longhouse and 12 are cottages built from mud and thatch with high ceilings to minimise their impact on the environment and are decorated in soft natural colours and fabrics . The lodge is run almost entirely on solar energy as part of its commitment to sustainable tourism - be prepared for low light levels in the evenings. A central roundhouse contains the restaurant and bar and many of the simple meals are preapred from their own organice produce. On warm days breakfast and lunch are served outside and a campfire is lit in the evening. Karnali Lodge also has eight resident elephants, giving you the opportunity to bath and learn just what is required for domestic keeping.

Safaris by jeep and inflatable raft, and interaction with the lodge elephants are included.
