Mendoza
In the rain shadow of the Andes, where Argentina meets the mountains and the desert, lies Mendoza — a region shaped as much by water as by wine. The city itself is leafy and low-slung, a hub for travellers and locals alike. But it’s the land beyond — sunlit vineyards, wide valleys, and snow-capped horizons — that leaves a lasting impression.
This is Argentina’s wine country, best known for Malbec but increasingly celebrated for its altitude-driven complexity and bold, confident winemaking. Yet Mendoza is not just about tasting rooms and cellar doors. It’s also about long lunches beneath the poplars, walking through vines at golden hour, and waking early to see the sun rise over the Andes. There’s riding, rafting, and access to serious trekking, but for most, the pace is gentle — slow days paired with fine wine and mountain air.
Mendoza is a natural pause point in a journey through Argentina: restorative, beautiful, and quietly rooted in the rhythms of the land.

Best Time To Visit Mendoza
The dry season, from October to April, is the best time to visit. Warm, sunny days and cool evenings make it ideal for vineyard visits, outdoor lunches, and views of the Andes. March and April, during the harvest, are especially atmospheric — with golden light and autumn colours in the vines.
The winter season, from May to September, is colder and quieter. While some wineries remain open, outdoor activities are limited, and many properties reduce operations. That said, the snow-capped Andes are striking during these months, and it’s a peaceful time to visit for those who prefer stillness over sunshine.
