Manuel Antonio

Costa Rica's second smallest national park but full of wildlife

Manuel Antonio National Park

Manuel Antonio National Park was gazetted a National Park in 1972 in an 11th hour intervention saving the area being developed into an all-inclusive resort and condominium complex.

Astonishingly beautiful and alive with wildlife – particularly monkeys – and the park’s clearly marked trail systems winds through rainforests and along tropical beaches and rocky headlands with views across the bay to outer islands. Monkeys abound and this is an excellent place to spot the relatively rare, and incredibly cute, squirrel monkeys as well as the more widespread capuchins and howlers. Aside from monkeys, sloths, agoutis, peccaries, armadillos, coatis and racoons are regularly sighted.

However, at only 2,000 hectares (2 km sq) Manuel Antonio is Costa Rica’s second smallest national park while one of the most popular and so the odds of encountering a lot of tourists along as lots of wildlife is pretty high.

The ‘dry season’ here is not entirely dry, rather less wet, so be prepared for rain at any time of year.

"We are repeat customers and NH never fail to deliver an exceptional trip. They understand exactly what we want to experience and tailor the adventure using accommodation that suits us and fabulous guides. The advice is sound and backup there if necessary."

Enjoyed EVERY second of an action- packed two weeks in Kenya. Asante Sana👏

"This was my fourth safari booked with Natural High and, as previously, it surpassed my expectations. Vanessa’s Itinerary was spot on - the three camps were very different but all were spectacular with food to die for, wonderful staff, friendly, knowledgeable and great driver/guides. I could go on and on - it was perfect, and the icing on the whole trip was tracking, and finding a pack of Wild Dogs - the reason for going😃
Already saving for a 5th trip and will DEFINITELY book with Natural High - they are the Best!"

Morroco was a pleasant surprise

"This was certainly not our first trip with natural high.
As any other trip, organization was great, ie pick up, vehicles, local guides, food, all well done.
I now have a different opinion of the country and people."
