na Nature Experience
Guyana is a frontier destination in every sense — remote, raw and gloriously under-visited. This itinerary cuts a thoughtful path through its most captivating landscapes, from tangled rainforest to vast open savannah, following the course of rivers and the rhythms of nature.
Across twelve nights, you’ll explore the dense interior by foot, boat and 4×4, from the canopy walkways of Iwokrama to the oxbow lakes of Karanambu. Wildlife encounters come thick and fast — giant river otters, black caiman, howler monkeys and, if you’re lucky, the elusive jaguar — while local guides and community hosts offer a deeper understanding of life in the Rupununi.
This is not a trip that races through the highlights. Instead, it slows the pace and goes further, combining gentle adventure with meaningful cultural encounters, excellent guiding and simple but characterful places to stay. Whether it’s watching manatees feed in a Georgetown park or drifting silently down a jungle creek at dusk, the sense of discovery here is as authentic as it gets.
Guests arrive in Guyana and are transferred to Cara Lodge in the capital, Georgetown. Over the next few days, enjoy a taste of city life with a culinary walking tour of Bourda Market led by Chef Delven Adams, followed by a locally sourced lunch at the Backyard Café. A day trip to the magnificent Kaieteur Falls is also included, with early morning birdwatching at the Botanical Gardens as an optional warm-up. This elegant colonial hotel serves as a relaxing base to settle into the rhythms of Guyana.
