Day 1, 2 & 3

THE NGORONGORO CRATER

After arriving into Arusha, you'll spend the first two days of your trip exploring the Ngorongoro Crater - a truly unique place that you really have to see to believe. Formed with the collapse of a massive volcano it is a perfectly formed crater 18km across. The crater floor is also home to most of the major East African mammal species.

NGORONGORO CRATER

WALK THE CRATER RIM

Time to stretch your legs on a full days hike around the north-western rim of the crater - a long winding walk that gives you un-adulterated views of the crater floor which is simply stunning. Stopping often as you discover all things great and small this is a fantastic walk and brilliant way to see all sides of the crater.

NGORONGORO CRATER: THE CAMP

CLASSIC TENTED CAMP

Set back in a remote location on the crater rim offering a handful of luxury tents and a wonderfully intimate atmosphere where stories of the crater flow over candlelight in the camp dining tent.

Day 4, 5 & 6

NORTHERN SERENGETI

Make your way into the northern regions of the famous Serengeti National Park and the heart of the action. Flying is an option at this point but often a drive through the park is a great way to take in the vast plains and all the inhabitant wildlife.

Your base for the next couple of nights will be mobile camps that are set up to follow the migration - these camps are brilliant with everything you need and nothing you dont plus their mobility makes them the optimum base for the dramatic river crossings.

NORTHERN SERENGETI: THE CAMP

AFRICAN GLAMPING

This stylish comfortable camp set up on the edge of a small tributary of the Grumeti River with small pools of water most of the year making camp bustle with wildlife. The tents are stylish bell tents with double beds and quality bed linen.

NORTHERN SERENGETI: THE WILDLIFE

THE FAMOUS RIVER CROSSING

Every dry season, thousands of brave herds attempt to reach the green lush grasslands of the Mara in their annual migration. This is a truly epic spectacle with hungry crocs patiently waiting to pick up a good feed - for sheer drama and scale, this event is very hard to beat.

Seeing a crossing takes luck and patience, but regardless of where you stay having an excellent and experienced guide who knows the area like the back of his hand is critical if you are to connect with a crossing.

NORTHERN SERENGETI: THE WILDLIFE

AVOID THE RESIDENT REPTILES

Unlike the Israelites crossing of The Red Sea, the Mara River crossings are not a single event, rather crossings happen throughout the dry season. Groups varying in size from a few hundred to tens of thousand cross the river in both directions between July and October in response to localized weather patterns.

Day 7 & 8: SERENGETI WALKING

INTO THE WILDERNESS

After experiencing the rush of the river crossings - now is a perfect time to get off radar and spend a couple of nights under the stars in complete wilderness.

WALKING SAFARI: THE CAMPS

SIMPLICITY TO GET YOU OFF GRID

For the final days in the Serengeti you'll move into the wilderness zone where few others are allowed and vehicles are certainly not. You have vast untouched wilderness to explore in the company of your guide and experienced armed guard. Small light weight camps will allow to walk from camp to camp each day into the remote wildlife-rich areas of the Serengeti.

WALKING SAFARI: THE WILDLIFE

ON FOOT IN THE SERENGETI

Exploring the Serengeti on foot is a completely different experience to being in a vehicle. It is about quietly exploring the wildier parts of the park that vehicles cannot. Walking safaris in these areas can be designed to suit you and your group from short walks out of camp to multi-day walks with the camp coming with you.

WALKING SAFARI: THE CAMPS

SUNDOWNERS & STAR GAZING

After your day walking you'll be ready for evening sundowners in a remote and special location before dinner. After dinner settle by the roaring camp fire with a glass of something or nightcap to enjoy the blanket of stars that appears in the night sky. The perfect ending to your wilderness adventure in the Serengeti National Park.

Perfect holiday from start to finish.

"Absolutely excellent service. The itinerary was spot on and the whole holiday worked like clockwork. The pre holiday notes and briefing were most useful too. I would have no hesitation in recommending Natural High Safaris to others."

Fabulous trip to Tanzania

"This is the second time we have used Natural High Safaris, and again they organised an outstanding holiday for us, this time in Tanzania, combining a safari and beach holiday that was top-notch. Highly recommend them, with huge range of experience and desire to really understand what it is their clients want - and then delivering! Thanks to Catherine Ronan."

An outstanding trip to the Himalayas superbly designed by Natural High.

"Natural High organised a 2 week family trip to Ladakh in August 2018. Andrea Hulme used her local knowledge to design an exciting trip that included a 5 day trek, white water rafting and numerous cultural visits and experiences. Their local partners Shakti were absolutely outstanding and we loved staying in the village houses as opposed to hotels. Their female Ladakhi guide Sonam was really one of the best we have every had on our travels."

Natural High

"Yet again another great holiday arranged by Natural High - Air France tried to ruin it but Natural High and their local agent were very helpful in resolving the problems caused. ."
