Once a hallowed safari destination, Zimbabwe has emerged from a few troubled years and remains a location to be reckoned with. Although travel around the country is not as easy as it once was, there are some real gems here that are definitely worth the effort. In our opinion this is no time to boycott Zimbabwe.
The main areas of interest are the Victoria Falls (yes, they are in Zimbabwe!), Hwange, Matobo, and the Mana Pools on the Zambezi. These areas thrive with a great variety of animal and birdlife, interesting culture and unique scenery. Other areas such as Gonarezhou, Kariba and the Eastern Highlands are opening up once more and fast becoming a favourite for Africa enthusiasts.
Zimbabwe's professional guides are among the best in Africa and with them you can get out and about in game-drive vehicles, on foot, horseback or just above the water in a canoe. There’s a real opportunity to explore here, with areas such as Gonarezhou and Mana still right off the beaten track.
