You don’t actually need to be very fit to go on a walking safari, but you do need to be in good health and be able to walk at a gentle pace comfortably for 3-4 hours at a stretch, sometimes in quite warm conditions. The ground can be a bit uneven, depending on where you are, but for the most part, you won’t need to negotiate very steep climbs. It’s a different kettle of fish if you are going Gorilla trekking or for more arduous hikes, when you do need to be better able to cope with steep terrain and possibly a quicker pace.
